Zimbra, an online/offline e-mail and collaboration service, has been acquired by Yahoo today for $350 million in cash. This catapults Yahoo into online office ring along with Google. Who will prevail? Who knows. I think we're headed for an office suite fight of cola war proportions.
I haven't looked at Zimbra much, except for blog postings here and there, but on closer inspection, it appears to be a pretty powerful corporate collaboration tool. It's equipped with key business e-mail features, such as creating, approving, or denying purchase orders from within the e-mail client. It looks good, too.
A good grab for Yahoo. A good grab, indeed.
